MARINA COLLARD
Chalkwalk
Chalkwalk is a durational work reflecting aspects of the human condition within the fragile and complex landscape of our world. As a way of navigating the complexities of an unstable, fragile environment, the performer simply draws a line on the ground and places one foot and the next, diligently walking along the line as it is drawn. The feet are limited to staying on the line and inevitably effect the walking itself, reconfiguring the physicality of the biped. The work questions our desire to adhere to current fast changing attitudes revealing the labour involved as well as the impermanence of the mark.
Performed: Piazza San Marco, Venice 19.10.2022
